Puzzles, often seen as a simple pastime, can offer a multitude of benefits for care home residents. At Cherrybrook Care Home, we recognise the value of stimulating activities and encourage our residents to engage in puzzles and board games.

Why Puzzles Matter:

  • Cognitive Benefits: Puzzles challenge the brain, improving problem-solving skills, memory, and concentration.
  • Fine Motor Skills: Manipulating puzzle pieces helps to enhance fine motor skills and dexterity.
  • Social Interaction: Engaging in group puzzles can foster social interaction, communication, and teamwork.
  • Emotional Well-being: Completing a puzzle can provide a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction, boosting mood and self-esteem.

By incorporating puzzles and other stimulating activities into our daily routine, we strive to enrich the lives of our residents and promote overall well-being.

Steven and Trish love a game of chess and enjoyed a bit of healthy competition, as well as a variety of puzzles.

Steven said he was having so much fun and Trish said she would complete the puzzle however hard it was!

Manager Ali said, “every activity offered at Cherrybrook is carefully consider for it’s benefits for residents.  From promoting and encouraging social interaction to a more subtle way of encouraging movement and working the brain, every activity plays a meaningful part in someone’s care plan.”
