December really is the most wonderful time of the year, and at Cherrybrook Care Home in Bradford, we’re embracing the festive spirit with a full calendar of Christmas activities for our very first Christmas! A time for warmth, connection, and Christmas cheer means we’re planning lots of things to do and creating opportunities for our residents to get together with loved ones and their local community.
Every activity is thoughtfully designed for people living with dementia or complex mental and physical health needs, so that everyone can enjoy the festivities in a way that’s meaningful and supportive.
Kicking Off the Festivities
We started December on a festive note as we enjoyed decorating the home for Christmas, transforming Cherrybrook with cosy touches like twinkling lights and Christmas trees.
We’ve also enjoyed a Christmas craft afternoon, making handmade cards for our loved ones. We enjoyed letting our creativity shine and making some happy memories too.
Festive Jumpers and Fun
We really enjoyed our Christmas Jumper Day. Residents, staff, and visitors were invited to wear their brightest and most Christmassy jumpers for a day of fun in support of Save the Children. Our residents also got the chance to vote for the best jumper, making this one a festive celebration with a sprinkle of friendly competition too!
Christmas Party Magic
The celebrations continue with our Residents Christmas Party. We’ll enjoy a classic Christmas buffet and a special performance from our local school choir. Friends and family are warmly invited to join us too.
Christmas Day Traditions
Christmas wouldn’t be the same without a traditional feast and we’ll be serving a delicious Christmas Dinner to celebrate, with the lunch open to our family and close friends too. It’s the perfect time to come together and celebrate the joy of the season.
After dinner, we’ll be giving out Christmas gifts from the Cherrybrook team for each of our residents. They mean the world to our team and we hope these small gestures help them to feel cared for and valued.
The Countdown is on!
After Christmas we’ll be ending the month in style with our New Year’s Eve Celebrations as we welcome in 2025 with food, drinks and music.
