Life is made up of moments, big and small, that bring people together. At Cherrybrook Care Home, we celebrate these special occasions.

From birthdays to seasonal festivities, they all strengthen connections and create lasting memories. For people living with complex physical and mental health conditions, these celebrations are just as important. We all enjoy feeling cared for and celebrated and that’s the same for people on a Dementia or complex health journey too.

Recently, we’ve celebrated birthdays and love. Our resident, Paul, enjoyed treating his wife Jenny with some Valentine’s Day roses. We celebrated another of our residents, Derek, on his 74th birthday too, with a yummy cake and a visit from his loved ones.

The power of familiar traditions

Whether it’s singing a favourite song, decorating for Christmas, or enjoying a slice of birthday cake, traditions hold deep emotional value. They help our residents feel connected to their past and provide comfort in the present. Familiar celebrations can spark memories and create a bridge between past experiences and the here and now.

How celebrations support emotional wellbeing

Marking special occasions can bring happiness, reduce feelings of isolation, and promote social interaction. For many residents, taking part in celebrations with fellow residents, staff, and visiting family members brings a renewed sense of purpose and community.

Tailoring celebrations to residents’ needs

At Cherrybrook, we make sure that our events are inclusive, accessible, and enjoyable for everyone. Whether it’s adjusting lighting and noise levels for those with sensory sensitivities or adapting activities for residents with mobility challenges, we make every celebration both meaningful and comfortable.

Through shared enjoyment and warm moments, we continue to make Cherrybrook a place where life’s milestones are celebrated with care.
